About Elmer Boutin

I'm a Marketing Technologist and have been working with web sites and in web marketing since 1996. I started out doing web sites for local businesses such as car dealerships and an art gallery. I also helped start an online rental property referral web site aimed at assisting military people find homes before they moved.

I currently work at GTB as Director, Organic Search (SEO) and specialize in search engine optimization (SEO). Prior to joining GTB, I was Director of Search Science at Rockfish where I was the practice lead for Online Reputation Management in addition to heading up SEO efforts for many of their clients. Before that, I was Webmaster for Wilsonart International where I was involved in everything from social media to server administration to web development.

I advocate that Strategy, Content, IT and other Marketing groups work together to have the best possible digital marketing efforts and thus benefit the enterprise. I also believe it's important for everyone to develop themselves as leaders, to learn to be the best they can be at whatever they do.

In this space I draw upon my vast and diverse experience to offer you advice how to do your work better. Although I slant towards web marketing topics, many of the articles here have applications in many different fields.
